BrewDog is providing this ultimate work perk – ‘pawternity’ leave, if you like – to all staff members and are rolling out the new pup-friendly policy at their first US brewery in Ohio.

The Scottish canine-inspired brewery are also allowing staff to bring their new bundles of joy to work whenever they need.

BrewDog was founded by James Watt and Martin Dickie – and their dog Bracken.

Its headquarters in Aberdeenshire is known for opening its doors to fifty team members and their office dogs, who are considered part of the crew.

In a company announcement, the puppy-loving pair said:

Here at BrewDog, we care about many things but have two main focuses above all others – our beer and our people. And over the years we have noticed that our people also care about many things but have two main focuses above all others – our beer and their dogs.

We totally get that. That’s why we let them bring their four-legged friends to work at BrewDog, and why we are now going one better with the latest awesome – or should that be pawesome – staff perk.

The announcement continued:

Ever since Bracken, the original Brew Dog, first watched James and Martin mash in batch number one of Punk IPA back in 2007 dogs have been central to our way of life.

Puppy Parental Leave will support nervy canines and their owners alike in those all-important first few days of the greatest relationship a person can have (children excepted – more on them later).

Opening their doors to some new team members isn’t a daunting task for BrewDog, and they are determined to help their staff settle down with their dogs – and create a fun working environment for everyone.

They explained:

Yes, having dogs in our offices makes everyone else more chilled and relaxed – but we know only too well that having a new arrival, whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog, can be stressful for human and hound both.

So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff to help settle a new furry family member into their home.

The company now employs over 1,000 staff globally and this new policy is helping them in their aim ‘to be the best company to work for, ever.’
