A lot of people complain about having to go to work every day but I have a feeling everyone will be much more enthusiastic next week, when Bring Your Dog To Work Day rolls around.

I can’t imagine anything better than having a number of happy, fluffy good boys and girls wandering around the office.

Pausing every now and then to give them some good head scratches would be the perfect distraction, plus you wouldn’t have to feel guilty about leaving your adorable pet behind at home all day. It would probably be the best day of the year if you didn’t actually have to do any work.

While Bring Your Dog To Work Day is no doubt a great day for humans, it’s also an important event for our furry friends as the occasion is used to raise money for animal cruelty.

The nationwide event has taken place annually since 2014 and this year it falls on Friday, June 21. Although you can choose any charity to raise money for, Bring Your Dog To Work Day is intended to earn donations for All Dogs Matter and Animals Asia.

All Dogs Matter is a non-profit organisation which rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes dogs in and around London as well as finding homes for dogs in need from overseas, while Animals Asia is an international charity which works to work to end the bear bile trade and the trade in dogs and cats for food in China and Vietnam.

As well as offering some exciting new additions to your workplace, Bring Your Dog To Work Day is thought to be beneficial to both productivity and wellbeing.

The site explains:

Many scientific studies have concluded that the presence of pets can substantially reduce a person’s stress level in the workplace. Increased job satisfaction, team co-operation and morale have all been reported in employees that spend the workday with their pets.

So in addition to raising funds, Bring Your Dog To Work Day is likely to boost the productivity and happiness of the employees within your company. And it means hundreds if not thousands of pets around the UK can now go to work alongside their humans!

You might have to work to convince your boss to take part in Bring Your Dog To Work Day but as it’s all for a good cause hopefully they’ll get on board! You could always show them an adorable picture of your favourite pooch to help win them over.

Bring on June 21!
