A hiker who got lost while trekking through the Alps has said he was rescued by a rather unusual good Samaritan, a cat.
The Hungarian man was hiking through the mountains near Gimmelwald, Switzerland when he became lost after he found his planned route blocked.
Thankfully while wandering the wilds he came across a friendly cat who led him down the mountain to safety.
The lost hike documented his experiences on the mountain or Reddit and even put up a video, admittedly from 2013, to prove that he had indeed been saved by a cat.
In the post the walker explained how he’d sprained his ankle while hiking and didn’t know how to get home when he discovered his route back had been closed.
He said:
[The cat] was just wandering around, [then] found me while I was resting from a hike. Then she was walking and kept looking at me to follow [and] led me straight to the path that would take me back down to the valley.
The walker went on to explain that Gimmelwald is a stunningly beautiful village and that he actually got ‘lost’ in the surrounding mountains when he didn’t realise that a trail had closed at the end of the ski season.
He later found out that the hero cat belonged to a local hostel, lets hope its owners rewarded it with fish and a round of a-paws.

He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
