A dog-loving couple were brought together because they each happened to give their dog the same name, and now they’re engaged!
29-year-old Samm Sexton found her soon-to-be husband, 30-year-old Alex Musk, on the Facebook group ‘Dogspotting’, after he shared a picture of his 4-legged best friend in November last year. Samm saw similarities between Alex’s dog and her own service dog, which she has for her epilepsy.
The pair came to learn that they both owned Boston terriers named Lola.

The two Lolas were cause for the pair to keep talking, and soon they were messaging and calling each other every day, despite Samm living in Indiana and Alex living in Leeds.
Earlier this month, Samm took a big step and shelled out $1500 to go and visit her British boyfriend for the first time on a 2 week trip, after saving up for 5 months.

After a ruff 18-hour journey, Alex met Samm off the train at Leeds train station.
Just two days after her arrival, Alex popped the question, asking Samm to become his wife while they shared a picnic at York Museum Gardens. Happy as a dog with a bone, Samm said yes, and is now planning on relocating to England to live with Alex.

Samm spoke to the Daily Mail, expressing excitement for her engagement and move to England:
When I first spotted him at the train station I couldn’t wait to get down the escalator and hug him. I saw him then he looked up and saw me and I couldn’t stop smiling.
He was everything I’d hoped he’d be. It was amazing to get my arms around him finally.
I was beyond excited when Alex asked me to marry him – it just felt so right… I knew it was coming but I thought it was amazing.
As for moving from the US to the UK, I’m excited for it. It will be a huge difference but it’s one I’m ready for.
My family and friends are very supportive. They will miss me of course but we will still visit and keep in touch.
Samm reportedly knew that Alex was the one just five weeks after they first met on Facebook.

Alex added that the couple’s feelings are very strong for each other, and mentioned that both their lives revolve around their dogs:
We both chatted about the two Lolas and how weird it was that they were both Boston terriers with the same name. Our lives revolve around our dogs.
The relationship just developed from there and after a month I started to develop feelings for her because she’s a really great person.
When she told me she had feelings for me around November time, we’d been talking for around five weeks.
I think because the feelings were so strong we knew pretty much straight away that we wanted a future together.
Alex said that he’d known since January that he wanted to marry Samm, but waited until they were together to ask her:
I bought the ring two months ago, it’s a moonstone ring that Samm said she loved so I ordered it in secret.
Her eyes lit up when I got down on one knee and her hands flew to her face.
The couple are planning on making sure their dogs both play a huge part in the upcoming wedding, with Alex pointing out that without the dogs, the couple would never have met.
What a tail.
