ruffstart/FacebookA dog who was so badly burned in a house fire she was going to be put down has made a full recovery and just found her forever home with a firefighter and his family.
Lexi Ann survived a house fire which killed her litter of puppies who shared the Minnesota home.
She miraculously made it out alive because the plastic kennel she was kept in melted around and onto her, allowing her to escape the fire, which happened in January.
The previous owners of this brave dog told the vet they had to restrain Lexi to stop her from going back into the burning house after her puppies.
As much as she survived the ordeal, Lexi was severely burned and was scheduled to be euthanized because her old family couldn’t afford to take care of the dog after the extent of her injuries were revealed.
After the vet tech at the clinic fell in love with Lexi, she was moved to Ruff Start, a local home for pets who need rescuing by foster families.
While with her new foster family, Lexi caught the eye of a firefighter from Indiana called Travis, who connected with her sad story.
Via a Facebook post, a spokesperson for the not-for-profit recalled:
Traditionally Ruff Start does not do out of state adoptions, but after long communication between the rescue, the fosters, and the adopters, it was clear this was a perfect match!
This Saturday Travis and his family brought an RV 11 hours to meet Lexi Ann, including their dog Odin! It was an instant love connection and Lexi found her forever family!
They said the pair are the perfect match:
Her dad is a full-time firefighter and connected with Lexi due to the trauma he knows fire can impact on the lives of humans and animals.
He actually has pulled his fair share of animals out of fires, many of which were not as lucky as Lexi Ann.
Her dad will even be bringing Lexi to a camp in Indiana that helps burn victims to help the kids with their own healing.

Despite everything she’s been through – including losing half the hair on her body, suffering burns down to the muscle, and an ulcer on one eye – Lexi is ‘sweet as can be and has a very strong will to live’.
