As the dog falls after being thrown off the building, by who is believed to be a medical student from Chennai, its tail continues to wag, something which many viewers found utterly heartbreaking, before the dog hits the floor with a loud thud, reports The Telegraph.

Warning: Distressing footage.

However, fortunately, this story has the happiest possible ending given the horrendous circumstances, as the dog, which was presumed dead, has been found alive by animal activist Shravan Krishnan.

Posting onto Facebook, Shavran said:

Good news – The dog has been found alive. She is not able to walk properly. She is with us now. Will be under treatment. What breaks my heart is that she was still wagging her tail.

Shavran said that the dog had been found cowering under the staircase of the same building she had been thrown off of.

He added:

We were called upon to come and check on the dog and take her for treatment. We confirmed she was the same dog cause the video looked like she was a female dog, there is a small black patch on her tail, her hind legs are injured and she wasn’t able to move properly.

When I lifted her, she was shivering and peed all over ’cause she was scared and the give away was she was extremely timid and she was wagging her tail throughout.

The two men in the video reportedly fled Chennai, after they had a police report filed against them, however they were later found, arrested, and released on bail.

The quick bail has caused outrage, leading many to call for stricter laws in India regarding animal cruelty, reports Mashable.

Anyone accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act can be let off with minor fines of as little as Rs 10 and Rs 50, instead of imprisonment.

In my opinion, there is absolutely no place in this world for disgusting and despicable acts of animal cruelty like this.
