Heartbreaking footage has been uncovered of a loyal dog waiting on the side of a road for 80 days, in the same place his owner died.
Dog’s are man’s best friend. They are fiercely loyal, protective and provide the best friendships; basically, they’ll always have your back.
And it seems as though this is still the case even once their owners have passed away, as one dog in China has been waiting on a dual-carriageway for more than two months since its owner died there on August 21.
According to the BBC, the video was filmed on November 10 and has since been shared on Sina Weibo, the social media site used in China instead of Twitter or Facebook.
The footage, which shows the dog waiting in the middle of the road in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, has been viewed 1.4 million times on the site.
You can watch the video below:
Ever since it was posted, people have been commenting about the dog’s loyalty, comparing it to their own family pets.
One person wrote:
This little dog is so loyal. My family used to have a dog and every day it would wait for me by the village school.
While others have been concerned about the dog’s welfare:
It is so dangerous for that doggy to stand in the middle of the road. I hope that some good people can adopt it and take it to a safe place.
However, people have already apparently tried to help the mourning dog, but it keeps running away whenever people approach.
One taxi driver told Pear Video, translated by the BBC:
Drivers often give the little dog bits of food, but when we get out, he goes away. This owner’s relationship with her dog was very deep. After she was killed, this little dog has just stayed standing guard.
Every day it’s in the road, I always see it. The relationship between man and dog is so true.
And this isn’t the only dog who has waited on the side of the road for months waiting for its owner, albeit in different circumstances.
One dog was found abandoned by the side of the road by a delivery driver, who passed him every day on his drive to work.
According to The Dodo, the eight-year-old Labrador had been left behind by his family when they moved away and he had been living in a car park across the street from where he used to live ever since.
When the driver kept seeing Larry the Lab in the same position, looking hungry and in need, he decided to set up an Instagram account to see if anyone could help him.
His first post was back in June:
Despite the post gaining a lot of attention, and even catching the eye of Love Leo Rescue, a foster based rescue located in Los Angeles, Larry is yet to find his forever home.
In a recent Instagram post, the rescue described how the lab had been kicked out of three foster homes due to separation anxiety, in addition to having two potential adopters bail on him.
They wrote:
He deserves better than that… he’s a kind and gentle dog who really deserves a forever home to call his own. Please consider adding him to your family. He has been through so much and wants to spend his golden years being loved and adored.
Despite being let down so many times, Larry remains resilient and friendly but desperately needs a family of his own.
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I hope Larry finds a loving, caring family soon who want to give him a forever home.
If you live in the Los Angeles area and are interested in adopting Larry, you can contact Love Leo Rescue for more information.
