It’s always nice to get recognition at your place of work. And for one driven pooch, this is very much deserved.
Professional good girl Meeka from Georgia cleans up every time when it comes to the Employee of the Quarter award at sales company Accuride International US.
This career canine truly puts her fellow dog employee Kya to shame, with her boundless dedication and can-do attitude.
District sales manager Michael Reeg began working from home last year, which is a daunting prospect for anyone.
As much as we all dream of being able to work at home in our pyjamas, it can be difficult to stay motivated without the social support of a busy workplace.
Luckily for Michael, he has found an excellent colleague in Meeka, who turns up to his home office every day without fail. No skiving for this lady.
Speaking with The DoDo, Michael revealed the many skills and attributes the high powered hound brings to the workplace:
There are times that I’ll even talk to her as I work through a problem or map out a customer solution. I try out my sales pitches and presentations on her.
She’s not easily impressed or swayed. All she hears is ‘blah, blah, blah, Meeka’ — but she likes to hear my voice and I love that she pays attention.
Having her in my office all day is something that we both look forward to.
Even when the boss is away, Meeka does not use this as an excuse to slack off. When Michael is away, she will still turn up for work regardless.
If she finds the door closed, she will spend the day lying in front of it just in case her beloved human employer is actually there and requires her assistance.
Unfortunately, Kya isn’t quite as passionate about her day job. Michael admits she is more of his wife’s dog, and so treats Michael and Meeka as more like her ‘second choice’ companions.
Not cool Kya. This dog seriously needs to attend some staff team building workshops if she ever wants to climb that corporate ladder. After all, there is no ‘I’ in team!

Model employee Meeka has won every Employee of the Quarter award since Michael started the initiative back in 2016.
He proudly frames every award, with each one including a picture of the accomplished doggy herself.
However, like all employees, Meeka cannot just rely on her past achievement if she wants to stay competitive.
Michael has even spoken about shaking up the awards to keep Meeka on her paws:
I haven’t decided yet if the prestige is going to her head, or if Kya feels disgruntled,
Maybe a change is needed for one quarter, so that Meeka doesn’t feel entitled. I want her to stay sharp.

Will this new sense of opportunity give Kya the fire in her tail she so desperately needs?
