OK guys, sad dog video here. For the most part, it gets better, but viewer discretion is advised for those who can’t bear to see a pooch in peril.
Footage has emerged of a drowning hound who’s eventually salvaged from a certain demise.
The video was released by Animal Aid Unlimited – an Indian animal rescue organisation whose mission is to rescue and treat the un-owned street animals of Udaipur, who’ve become ill or injured – and through their rescues, inspire a community to protect and defend the lives of all animals.
Founded in 2002, their work focuses on the vital moment when a resident of Udaipur sees an animal who needs help, and stops to help. Taking action is the pivotal experience which can change everything for good, they say.
According to their website, the organisation states:
By providing a phone number someone can call and a shelter who will help and save, we are inspiring action in the community.
Action that though small at first, maybe just a phone call on our helpline, is the first step for someone on the road of becoming the person that animals desperately need.
But back to the dog in question – they wrote:
We got a call to rescue a dog fighting for her life after falling in a deep well. She may have been swimming for hours before a villager saw her and called our helpline.
She was quickly losing her strength and could barely hold on to the sides of the well.
Thankfully, Animal Aid Unlimited were able to get to her just in time!
In happier dog news, a documentary about their lives is coming to Netflix very soon.
Dogs (great title – straight to the point) is a new documentary series telling six emotionally charged stories across six episodes.
The first episode will follow the story of 11-year-old Corinne who suffers from seizures, and her bond with Rory – a dog who’s been specially trained to detect oncoming seizures.
According to a press release from Netflix:
This episode highlights the depths of a closely formed friendship between a child and their dog, the unbreakable trust they have in each other and the incredible power of a dog’s ability to assist humans in health and wellness.
The second episode follows one man’s journey to rescue his dog, Zeus, from war-torn Syria, while the third episode looks at the friendship between an Italian fisherman and his dog, Ice.
Developed by Glen Zipper and Amy Berg, each episode has been directed by a renowned documentarian. This includes Heidi Ewing (One of Us) and Richard Hankin (The Jinx).
The series features stories from all over the world, from rescue dogs in Costa Rica, to the world of competitive dog groomers in Japan and California.
Dogs will be premiered globally on Netflix, from November 16.
