Game of Thrones/HBOGame of Thrones author, George R.R. Martin, has paid tribute to a wolf dog named after Jon Snow’s four-legged friend, Ghost.
Martin posted the tribute on Twitter yesterday to announce the animal’s death at the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in New Mexico.
The award-winning author and his wife Parris had named a pack of 10 after characters from the hit show and had raised money for the rescue centre.
Martin wrote:
In loving memory of the real life Ghost from the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. He passed this week and he will be missed. R.I.P

However, due to some confusion, numerous fans thought the actual dog from the show had died and were worried he would be “killed off” in the upcoming seventh series.
Martin had to send out another tweet to clear things up.
He added:
Clarification, this was the wolf rescued by Wild Spirit and dubbed Ghost. NOT the wolf who plays Ghost on the show.
