A shark expert has gone and ruined everyone’s trips to the seaside this summer after revealing that great white is roaming about our most popular beaches.
Graeme Pullen says he’s been going after the big bastard on the south coast for the past two years but has thus far failed to catch it.
His warning comes a day after holidaygoers in Majorca witnessed a smaller blue shark, reports the Daily Mirror.
Fishing journo Pullen said:
Make no mistake, this is the big one. This is surely Britain’s first great white – and it’ll be coming back this summer. The danger is this shark will eventually stumble across someone in a wetsuit and mistake them for a seal.
Don’t doubt Pullen’s skills though, he’s caught hundreds of sharks off British coasts over the last 40 years.
He added:
This is no basking shark, no porbeagle, blue or mako. Others have also given details of their sightings and this is not miles out to sea but close to shore, mostly hunting in the estuaries.
Yikes. Apparently a local commercial skipper called Pete Williams, 35, came face to face with the shark in August 2015. He described the apex predator as ‘at least 12ft.’
He said:
It was huge, the biggest shark I have seen, and it looked like a great white. It literally wrenched the net out of my arms and ripped through it like it was tissue paper. I saw it within a few feet. It had huge teeth, piercing eyes. It was at least 12ft.
Maybe it’s a good shout to avoid beach trips this summer.
