Napping is risky business. Don’t nap for long enough and you’re still tired; nap for too long and you destroy your sleeping pattern. Nap without a kitten and it’s just not the best nap at all.

The bar has been set pretty high with regards to daytime snoozes by this guy and his cat companion. The human’s name is Ali Safa and he lives in Canberra, Australia.

As he headed outside into the afternoon heat to enjoy the sun the other day, he drifted off to sleep lazily. But when he woke, he was not alone.

Turns out, a little kitten had chosen his lap as the perfect place to take her nap, too, and Safa happily dozed, unaware, until he woke up to find her there.

Safa told The Dodo:

I was taking a nap on the balcony of our house, and, like two hours later, I woke up and I found her just napping on my stomach. At first, I thought she was a rat.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with pet rats, but Safa was pretty relieved to see it was a cat he assumed was a stray.

He added:

[I] wasn’t really bothered if she has fleas or anything like that ’cause I thought to myself, ‘If she does have fleas, I probably already have fleas, too, so whatever’.

But shock quickly faded and his heart warmed to the small, mucky feline.

He continued:

I never really had a pet and I am a bit of a loner so I don’t have many friends, too. While she was sleeping I kept hearing that ‘purr’ sound cats make and it was the cutest shit I have ever heard.

Having found a new friend, Safa snapped a quick selfie with the sleeping animal, careful not to wake her.

Taking to Reddit to share his story, Safa explained:

The first thing she does is step down [off] the sofa, look me in the eyes and start meowing nonstop for 20 seconds. She’s obviously hungry, so guess who’s sharing the chicken wings my mom made?

That’s where the real human/cat friendship began. Safa bathed her and took her to the vet, who deemed her healthy. Then he named her Angel.

Safa concluded:

There really aren’t any house rules against pets in my family and she looked like she can use some family, so I was like, ‘Screw it, I’m keeping her’.

All I can say is that she is the most fun cat I have ever gotten to play with. All she does is just roam around me all the day wanting pets or to play.

I’d be on my laptop working and she would just jump on my keyboard and sit between my arms.

Picking her up and putting her down on the ground won’t help because she would just jump right back up until she gets the petting she wants.

A cat nap made in heaven, if you ask me.
