WikipediaA heroic dog has sadly died after defending his owner’s family from an attack by four cobras.
According to the Deccan Chronicle, the mountain cobras had been trying to get into Dibakar Rait’s family house when they were challenged by the dog, who was guarding the entrance.
The doberman, however, was having none of it, killing all four of the deadly snakes before they could reach the family indoors, reports NAIJ.com.
Witnesses reported that the fight went on for quite a long time and the dog received numerous bites as he defended his master’s home.
Once he had defeated the toxic serpents, witnesses say he collapsed due to the poison in his blood delivered by the snakes’ venomous jaws.
The family, who live in Sebekapur – a village in the Gajapati district of India – is still in shock after the incident.
WikipediaDibakar told local reporters:
I’m shocked. He has made the supreme sacrifice for me and my family. I will remember him till our death. I pray God – May his soul rest in peace.
To honour the brave dog, neighbours laid floral wreaths on his body and even held a funeral procession before he was buried.
What a legend. RIP.
