Humans and dogs have a bond which has survived thousands of years, and we still rely on one another for a great deal today.
In this case it was a dog and her seven puppies who required human rescue after the litter were almost buried alive a metre underground after getting stuck in a cave.
The rescue took place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and was a delicate process of digging to open up a hole without harming the little pups.
Here’s the footage:
The person who rescued the puppies told Viralhog:
I overheard these puppies stuck in a cave more than one meter deep. Our group tried to rescue these dogs because if they were in the cave, it could become flooded water and very dangerous. [sic]
The rescuer dug till the hole was big enough, the mother climbed out and then the effort began to fish out the seven small puppies.
Luckily they were all unharmed and given a second chance.
Following the arrival of Hurricane Florence last week, brave volunteers rescued six dogs which had been abandoned in a locked cage in North Carolina during the storm.
The dogs nearly drowned in rising flood waters before rescuers got to them. They were found barking, standing on their hind legs up against the front of the cage, desperate to get out.
The animals were found at a property in Leland, North Carolina, where the owners had abandoned the house and the animals in order to escape Hurricane Florence.
Journalist Marcus DiPaola posted to Twitter:
Rescued six dogs in Leland, NC, after the owner LEFT THEM locked in an outdoor cage that filled with flood water that was rapidly rising. [sic]
We got them out, but by the time we left, the water was so high that they would have drowned. BRING YOUR PETS WITH YOU! [sic]
The video shows the dogs whimpering as volunteer rescuer, Ryan Nichols, of Longview, Texas, wades through the water to reach them.
As soon as he frees the animals, all the dogs swim out towards the volunteers.
Sadly, puppy rescues are more frequent than you’d hope. Susanna Bergamaschi, an animal rescue volunteer, was out walking in Norma, Italy when another walker drew her attention to the plastic bag in the bushes.
The three puppies were too young to even open their eyes, and were found shaking in the bag, no doubt terrified after being left behind.
According to the MailOnline, Susanna explained what happened:
I was out walking with a friend when I came across a dog walker who said he’d heard noises coming from a hedge, and indicated at the place where the noises were coming from.
We walked over and saw a plastic bag entangled in a fence.
The dog walker managed to untangle the bag and once we got it back to the road we opened it and saw the puppies inside!
I took them home and from here, their life will begin.
Susanna proved herself to be a wonderful human being, and immediately took the puppies into her care.
She took them home and fed them, allowing them to have the freedom of being happy, wandering puppies they clearly didn’t have before.
At least a bit of faith in humanity has been restored now.
