JK Rowling’s website Pottermore recently rolled out a new feature that allows you to find your one true Patronus – and it looks like you’re seriously going to have to lower your expectations on what animal you get.
Speculation that Harambe (yes, Harambe) was one of the options provided on Rowling’s website was prompted when she retweeted an image appearing to depict the Internet hero as a Patronus.
Obviously, everyone lost their shit.
Now, a Patronus charm is created by thinking of a positive memory, but if your happiest recollection is of Harambe, you’re out of luck – the late gorilla is definitely not a potential Patronus.
Someone decided to troll the wizarding world by creating a fake ‘Expecto Patronum’ spirit guardian in the form of the inappropriate animal pop culture reference.
Wands out for Harambe, guys.
And because it’s 2016 and the world is nuts, JK Rowling actually had to go out of her way to clarify that Harambe is not available as an actual Patronus on her website.
But that doesn’t mean Rowling isn’t amused by the meme that will never die. She thought it was funny.
Way to go, Rowling.
Can’t say I’m not a little disappointed this was never a real thing, though…
