A dog has refused to move from a hospital his owner died at, four months ago, in a incredible display of devotion.
The committed hound has hung around ever since he pursued the ambulance which took his companion – who’d been killed on the streets of Brazil.
Charities have attempted to re-home the devastated pooch to no avail – he even ran away from his new owners.
The dog has been sat outside the Santa Casa de Novo Horizonte hospital, waiting for his late master, with no intentions of leaving.
Financial director of Santa Casa, Osvaldo Palota Sobrinho, said the dog sits outside the hospital everyday, taking intervals to meander off to find food and water, but he always returns to the same spot, where his blanket is, at the front doors of the hospital, report G1.
However, on most days, staff have fed him and brought him more blankets to cope with the colder nights.
While ‘extremely tame, docile and quiet’, according to Osvaldo, he’s also incredibly determined to be reunited with his 59-year-old owner.
Temos muito o que aprender com os animais. Esse cachorro fica todo dia na porta da santa casa de Novo Horizonte…

When he made a run for it back to the hospital, from his new owners, the poor old pooch covered a good three kilometres.
One Facebook user wrote of the dog’s dedication:
We have a lot to learn from animals. This dog stays every day at the door of the Santa Casa de novo horizonte waiting for its owner who unfortunately passed away.
I hear it’s powered by some people. Waiting for him is in vain, but the love he nurture for the owner is eternal.
I also observe the respect that the officials of the holy house have for him. And so follow life, animals teaching men true love. [sic]
I guess it’s true dogs are man’s best friend.
