Man Discovers 30 Rattlesnakes Under Shed

Before the tribunal of nature, a man has no more right to life than a rattlesnake; he has no more right to liberty than any wild beast; his right to the pursuit of happiness is nothing but a license to maintain the struggle for existence, if he can find within himself the powers with which to do it.

Not my words of course, but those of American social scientist William Graham Sumner. What does it mean? Anyone’s guess really! But it includes the word ‘rattlesnake’ which is precisely what the following article is about. Well, over 30 of the bastards actually!

That’s right, one man in Texas was shocked to find the gang of snakes under a hunting shed at his ranch earlier this month.

Bobby Cowan and two of his friends were at Cowan’s gaff in Gorman to do some work on a windmill.

At one stage the three of them noticed a rattlesnake making its way under an old hunting shed. The trio then used a machine to lift the abandoned structure in search of the critter.

To their shock, it was one of dozens of rattlesnakes hiding under the structure. And there’s video proof!

‘We were definitely — what’s the right word — freaked out, maybe,’ Cowan said. ‘Very, very surprised. As soon as we lifted up the building, we slammed it right back down because there were so many of them.’

‘We knew we weren’t in that much danger if we didn’t get too close, and so then we were able to look at them,’ he added. ‘We knew we weren’t in that much danger if we didn’t get too close, and so then we were able to look at them.’

Cowan counted 36 snakes but said there could have been at least 50, according to the New York Post. The video, uploaded to Facebook, has more than three million views and 54,000 shares.

The social media reaction was apt, with one woman commenting, ‘Don’t. Ever. Invite me to Gorman. Ever.’

‘I’ve watched this several times (because) I can’t quit and it freaks me out every time,’ another added.

A third praised Cowan on his newfound Facebook fame saying, ‘If this reaches a million views, I think you’re officially in a boy band?! I THINK! I’m not entirely sure how the internet works, but I think it’s definitely boy band!’
