A guy who has bitten by a bear, a shark and a snake in less than four years says he’s either ‘really lucky or really unlucky’.

I’m going to go ahead and answer this for him: You’re terribly unlucky.

Dylan McWilliams is only 20 but he’s clearly had his fair share of vicious animal attacks in his time on Earth and amazingly he’s still around to tell his story.

His latest bite came on last Thursday (April 19), when he was attacked by a shark in the sea off Kauai less than a year after he was ‘mauled and dragged’ by a black bear in Colorado.

Oh, yeah, and he was bitten by a rattlesnake in Utah a little over three years ago as well, writes Honolulu Star Advertiser.

On Thursday, Dylan went into the water with his boogie board at around 7.30am, and as he went back out for his second wave, he was knocked off his board ‘about 30 yards from shore’.

It was then he felt an excrutiating pain in his right calf.

He said:

At first I panicked. I didn’t know if I lost half my leg or what.

Dylan said he looked down and saw a a six-to-eight-foot tiger shark lurking beneath him so he’gave it a swift kick’ before frantically swimming back to the safety of shore.

He said:

That was the scariest part. I didn’t know where the shark was, and I didn’t know if he would come after me again..

Dylan needed seven stitches – which is absolutely nothing compared to what happened to him last July.

He had to have nine staples in his scalp after a 280-pound black bear attacked him as he slept in the great outdoors at a summer camp.

The bear not only ‘bit into the back of his head’, it then went on to drag him ‘some 12 feet’.

Brace yourselves – Dylan said he remembers waking up to the sound of the ‘crunching of his skull’, fighting back by punching and poking the bear in the eye.

He said:

He dropped me as soon as I did that.

If I push on the back of my head, it still hurts a little bit.

The teeth scars are still there, but claw marks on his forehead have ‘faded’.

Luck was again on Dylan’s side when he was bitten by a rattlesnake.

Three and a half years ago, the pygmy faded rattlesnake jumped at him as he was out hiking in a canyon near Moab, in Utah.

Luckily, it turned out be a dry bite, which gave him only enough venom to make him ill for ‘a day or two’.

He puts his bad luck to being at the ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ which I guess is absolutely true.

Adding:

My parents are grateful I’m still alive.

Yeah, I’ll bet.
