Crocodiles are believed to have eaten a South African hunter, who’d hunted lions and elephants, after human remains were found in two of the reptiles.

Scott van Zyl was hunting with a pack of dogs in Zimbabwe last week when he disappeared. It’s thought that van Zyle separated from his tracker and was eaten by crocodiles on the bank of the Limpopo River.

His belongings were found inside his truck and the hunting dogs returned to his camp, The Independent reports.

Rescue teams used helicopters, trackers and divers to search the area he’d last been seen and trackers eventually spotted his tracks leading to the banks of the river with his backpack lying nearby.

One of the search team Sakkie Louwre claims that police suspect two Nile crocodiles ate Mr van Zyl and that forensic work is being done to determine whether the remains found in two crocodiles belong to him.
