An Instagram model is under investigation for animal cruelty because she tattooed her Sphynx cat to make it look ‘glamorous’.

Elena Ivanickaya, from Ukraine, decided to get the feline inked on its chest, reportedly with the winged Egyptian god Anubis, according to the Daily Mail.

Photos posted to the cat’s Instagram show the barbaric outcome of the decision to get some bod-mod on the pet.

Apparently, the poor cat was placed under anaesthetic as the tattoo artist carried out his work on the cat.

But after the pics were posted online, people rightly erupted in anger at the woman, who has been accused of torture.

One follower, Inna Milovanova, wrote:

Would be better to ink her forehead with a tattoo saying ‘Idiot’ and break her finger for torturing a defenseless animal, poor kitty.

However, Ms Ivanickaya stands by her decision and has hit back, saying the cat, Yasha, has a better life than most of the people outraged.

She claims the cat was not harmed in any way, and lives a more luxurious life than most people – eating live oysters on a regular basis.

She said:

The cat’s life is better then yours. Maybe it is hell for you, but he feels just fine.

He has not been castrated and he never will be, this would be real cruelty. I checked with the vet before getting him a tattoo and they were fine with it and a vet was present while they were doing the tattoo, so everything was under control.

The cat is treated with love and care.

She insists that the cat has a ‘happy’ life, and the tattoo was made on the upper layer of skin.

She said he did not feel any pain, as the needle was only 1-2 millimetres in depth. After the ‘procedure’, the animal reportedly behaved normally and continued with his ‘routine.’

However, authorities aren’t satisfied that there was no animal cruelty in the tattooing of the animal, police spokesman Natalia Chovpylo said:

If we establish that the animal was tortured, we will open a criminal case.

Can’t really think of a reason why tattooing an animal wouldn’t be classed as torture, but that’s just me.
