A woman has died after being gored by a heifer at a festival in southern Spain.
Mother-of-two, Sofia Lopez Gonzalez, was killed after the animal was set loose in the streets of Moratalla in Murcia as part of the Cristo del Rayo festival, reports the Daily Mail.
The 47-year-old tried to hide, but was caught on the cow’s horn, suffering a fatal injury to her abdomen.

Sofia’s husband and one of her two children witnessed the tragedy – which happened on the final run of the week-long festival.
Town officials declared three days of mourning following Sofia’s death with her funeral taking place today.
Last year, 12 people were killed at bull festivals across Spain and last Saturday two men died after being gored during bull runs.
A 65-year-old was gored during a run in Fuentesauco, Salamanca after a bull broke through a fence during the town’s annual festival.
He was taken to hospital but died shortly after – leading the town to suspend the festivities.
On the same day, a 29-year-old – named as Ruben Frasquet Morant – died after being gored to death by a heifer during an annual festival in Pedreguer near Valencia.
The deaths occurred on the same day matador Victor Barrio was killed in the ring – the first bullfighter to lose his life in the ring since 1985.
