A mum from Australia was left in complete shock after finding out her child’s toy lion sports a penis and testicles.
33-year-old Tanya Husnu couldn’t believe her eyes when her three-year-old daughter, Aylah ran up to her to ask about her toy’s ‘willy’.
After examining the toy further, professional blogger Tanya discovered the lion did indeed have a plastic depiction of a meat and two veg beneath his tail.
Mother-of-five Tanya had purchased the rude toy from a Kmart in Melbourne, in anticipation of an innocent family trip to the zoo.
Tanya had bought the dong – sorry, doll – for her four-year-old son Hakan, unaware of its, erm, attention to anatomical detail. She had also bought toy animals for Hakan’s twin brother Osman and for Aylah.
However, neither of the other two other toy animals she had purchased from the store had their bits and bobs proudly out on display.
Tanya explained:
We were planning a trip to the zoo and I thought it would be really great if the kids could take some animal toys with them on the day. We went into Kmart and my three youngest picked out their own toys.
They were all really happy with them. Then one of the twins turned the lion around, and my daughter yelled out ‘look mum, the lion’s got a willy’ and they all started laughing.
She continued:
I thought it was really inappropriate. In this day and age, it’s not acceptable to have things like that on children’s toys.
I buy a lot of toys, and my house is full of toys. But I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s so stupid and just plain weird.
Despite her initial surprise and mortification, Tanya has since been able to share a giggle about the lewd lion with her kids, admitting:
I was really shocked. I mean it’s funny as well and you can’t help but laugh but it’s still just not appropriate for a child’s toy that is on full display in the kids’ section.
My kids thought it was hilarious though. At the zoo, they kept lifting up the tail and showing strangers walking past the lion’s bits as they walked past and yelling out ‘willy!’. It was so embarrassing.
Going forward, Tanya wants Kmart to cease selling the toy, expressing her belief that parents should be the ones to decide how and when to discuss the topic of genitalia with their kids.
