Laura AguairA couple of hardy parrots were spotted taking refuge on a windowsill at the Marriott Hotel in Miami, as Hurricane Irma raged around them.
Laura Aguair was staying with her family on the 22nd floor of the hotel, when she spotted the feathered friends with their beaks pressed against the rain battered window pane.
Laura snapped a picture of the beautiful birds peering longingly into her hotel room, and shared it on the WPLG Local 10 Facebook page.

People from all over the world have been moved by the sight of the colourful creatures, with their drenched yet still regal feathers.
Many have been anxious to learn the fate of the plumaged pals, with some even criticising Laura for not opening the window.

However, those concerned can breathe a sigh of relief as recent information suggests the bird brained besties are now keeping cosy in a hotel office.
Apparently the parrots, called Paco and Pedro, are well known to the hotel staff and are in fact regular and distinguished guests.

Plucky hotel employees were able to tempt Paco and Pedro up onto the roof with tasty treats, before taking them into the office.
This information was revealed by Jackie Elcus-Whelan, who posted a reassuring comment on the original Facebook post:
The very best in humanity was displayed by the hotel workers in saving these parrots!
Our hearts go out to the people and animals in the path of this dangerous storm.

Writer Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan tweeted about her friend in Key West who had offered a pair of flamingos shelter during the storm.
Cheryl tweeted a picture of the pretty pink birds huddled together next to a washing machine, with the comment:
