In the wild, polar bears are considered to be one of the world’s most magnificent predators.
But with the help from humans with global warming and all that, their habitat is slowly disappearing bit by bit, making it harder and harder for them to feed and ultimately survive.
It’s hard enough for these beautiful creatures as it is, but somehow they could be in even worse situations than this. They could, let’s say, be this polar bear:
This animal has been trapped by a shopping centre in China, where its sole purpose in life is so shoppers can take a quick selfie with it.
Dubbed ‘the world’s saddest polar bear’, this creature is the main attraction at the Grandview shopping centre in Guangzhou, where people can tap on the glass or take a picture, The Mirror reports.
Understandably, animal welfare activists are absolutely appalled by the bears treatment, after footage of it emerged online of it lying on the floor, looking completely lifeless.
This polar bear is just one of the many animals which is kept at the shopping mall, with six young belugas, five walrus calves, Arctic foxes and a wolf also there for peoples ‘entertainment’.
The Charity, Animals Asia, are now urging regulars who frequent the shopping centre to boycott it until the animals are safely returned to their natural habitat.
Director of the charity, Dave Neale, told The Mirror:
We are calling on the Chinese public not to attend this attraction. We are calling for it to be closed down. This is a bear that suffers for what? For selfies? For shopping?
Is this what the world has seriously come to? Hopefully common sense will prevail and this bear will finally be returned to where it really belongs- the wild.
