One of the saddest things about an abandoned dog is the ocean of love they would be willing to give if only they were given the chance.
Adopting a dog who has experienced neglect or abuse is an extremely rewarding and compassionate thing to do, and those who rescue dogs from desperate situations are truly heroic.
Heartbreaking new footage has emerged which shows a little dog in the front seat of a car. He had been abandoned for days in baking heat and was desperately hungry.
However, despite the toll the ordeal had taken on his tiny body, the starving dog was still able to express his sincere gratitude towards the person who had rescued him.
In the video, the rescuer is driving along and petting the forlorn looking dog with one hand. In return the dog pats her with his paws and nuzzles into her arm, leading her to sob with emotion.
She tearfully murmurs ‘it’s okay’, and when she moves her hand away, the dog grabs it back; looking relieved to be receiving some much needed affection.
He continues to hold her arm as she strokes his face, gazing at his beloved rescuer with his beautiful big brown eyes. He then tries to clamber onto her lap, tail wagging for joy. His gratitude at being given a second shot at life is evident.
The rescuer explained:
I saw abandoned dogs for days with no food, water or shelter, dying in 100 + degrees. They were tied up on two-foot chains, not able to move.
I waited to see if someone would help them and I couldn’t sleep at night, so I saved them. Minutes after, the one of the dogs reached for my hand multiple times wanting affection.
It broke my heart that he’d been neglected and was dying and wasn’t mad at me but grateful. I started to cry and again, his focus shifted from himself to now my needs. I couldn’t believe so much love came from an animal that literally just came from a situation like he was in.
Those who have seen the video have been deeply moved by the ability of the dog to still show love towards the same species who had treated him so poorly.
One person commented:
OMG I CANT STOP CRYING after seeing how much this beautiful dog was soooooo grateful. God Bless the people that save them. What happened with this adorable puppy dog?????

My most sincere appreciation for this rescuer. Seems like a perfect fit for both parties. As a fellow rescuer, I can rightly assert that many adopted pets understand and joyfully accept the actions of their new families. Except for my jerk cats. They’re just a couple of freeloaders.
I truly wish this little pup all the best as he begins his new life. He deserves all the love he has in his precious heart to be returned to him tenfold.
