For the poor pups who have to spend their days in shelters or at a dog’s home, their lives are changed when you give them their forever home, so imagine how happy they are when they’re saved.
Get the tissues at the ready, because this story is one which’ll make you shed a tear.
One hot day in Dubai, Anand Rama was visiting his sister at work when he noticed a dirty, dark young pup trying to find shade under a parked car.
The canine was in a bad condition, with matted fur and dodgy legs, and was trying to eat scraps some of the workers had left out for him.
Despite his poor condition, when the dog saw Anand, he came running over to him, and instantly, a bond was formed.
Speaking to The Dodo, Anand recalled:
He approached me with a curious but excited disposition, wagging his tail excitedly. This demeanour of his is what initially made me fall in love with him.
We then sat there for a while on the sidewalk and he was content just receiving pets from me for a while. I carried him into the car and he immediately fell asleep on my shoulder.
Anand, assisted by his sister and brother-in-law, was able to take the dog to the vet, and stated:
He was exhausted when I first got him, which is why he fell asleep right away in the car ride to the hospital.
Once at the clinic Anand was told the dog had rickets in both of his front legs, caused by malnutrition. Luckily though, the condition is treatable and wouldn’t leave any lasting effects.
Once the dog was finally home, Anand was shocked to discover the dog was actually white:
I was surprised to find out that his fur was actually pure white after all the dirt and grime came off his body.
There was only one name for this newly-homed pup – Snowy. Not only because of his fur, but the name of the faithful dog in The Adventures of Tintin.
Check out the images and video below. Did I mention that grin:
Since Snowy has found his forever home, Anand revealed there’s been some teething problems – which is normal given the life he must have had on the streets:
Getting him adapted to a house at first wasn’t easy. He wasn’t sure where to go and what to explore, so he’d just sit in a corner.
When I would take him for walks, he was constantly terrified that I was going to leave him back on the streets, so he would yank his leash away from me and run back into the parking lot of our building complex.
This happened for a while until he realised we were not going to let him go anywhere fast.
But two months on, and Snowy now knows what it is to be man’s best friend.
Talking about his love for Snowy, Anand added:
He sleeps and waits for us to get home from work, which is when he showers us with love and we reciprocate the same with him.
He also gels amazingly well with any dog he comes across and is very well-behaved with kids and guests.
What a lovely ending! Told you it would make you weep.
