Touching Moment Steve Irwin’s Family Learned He Was Getting Hollywood Star

Can you believe it’s been nearly 11 years since Steve Irwin, a.k.a the Crocodile Hunter passed away.

The Australian legend died tragically at the age of 44, when struck by a stingray barb during filming for a television show.

At the time, the then-president of Australia said:

Australia has lost a wonderful and colourful son.

Well now, after a decade since his passing, the nature fanatic is being honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Irwin is being honoured for his ‘contribution to the entertainment industry through wildlife documentaries’, reports the Guardian.

Irwin’s nomination was sponsored by Visit Sunshine Coast.

Irwin’s daughter Bindi, tweeted the news on Friday to reveal her and her family’s excitement.

She wrote:

Beyond excited to share with you all that we have just received news that Dad will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Irwin family also shared a video of Bindi, brother Robert and their mum Terri reacting to the good news.

On the Australia Zoo conservation site, a statement from his wife Terri read:

Steve has always said that he didn’t care if anyone remembered him, as long as they remembered his message.

I truly believe that this recognition for Steve’s achievements will ensure that his message of wildlife conservation is remembered.
