West Borough Police DepartmentA Very Good Boy was just sworn into the police department in West York Borough. Meet Detective Prince, the newest K-9 officer on the team.
The 13-week-old bloodhound pup will be put to work in Pennsylvania tracking down missing persons, taking down bad guys with his dopey puppy dog eyes and, generally, being Man’s Best Friend.
Prince was welcomed into the family at a very special induction, where he even signed his paw print, making his new role keeping people safe official.

After eight months of training, Prince will be assigned to search and rescue, and will be taking part in programs focused on finding abducted children.
The pup embarked on his crime-fighting career after being donated to the WYBPD by The Jimmy Ryce Centre.
The organisation – named after the abducted young boy, Jimmy Ryce – that provides AKC bloodhounds free to law enforcement to find abducted and lost children.

According to a statement from Don and Claudine Ryce:
A bloodhound has 60 times the scent power of a German Shepherd and is the only dog that can follow a human trail more than a few hours old.
A bloodhound is your best single bet for bringing a child, abducted by a predator, home, alive.
We believe that Jimmy would be alive today if a bloodhound had immediately been brought in to search for our son.

Prince will be replacing a soon-to-be-retired bloodhound, who goes by the name of Lou.
According to Prince’s Facebook page, he found out he had big paws to fill.
West York Borough Police DepartmentFor now though, Prince will be getting to know his handler, Officer Scott Musselman of the WYBPD, and getting house broken in preparation for his rounds at the station.
