In a statement released, police confirmed the attackers were shot dead within eight minutes of the first call being made.

Last night we saw another appalling and tragic incident in London. Something we hoped we would not see again.

Obviously my thoughts are with all of those affected, those injured and the families of those innocent people who died, enjoying Saturday night in our capital.

She outlined her visit to the hospitals, where the victims are currently being treated for their injuries and how she heard of ‘remarkable’ and ‘extraordinary’ stories of ‘brave’ citizens trying to offer help in the aftermath.

She continued:

I also heard of colleagues from other emergency services and members of the public ran towards the danger, as this incident occurred.

Many, many people risked their own safety to help others and to treat those seriously injured.

It’s clear to me the courage of those people during and following the attack was extraordinary and I pay tribute to all.

She explained how people tried to help others as well as trying to ‘prevent’ the terrorists from continuing with thei attack.

She added:

As you now, our officers confronted the suspect and brought this terrible incident to a conclusion within eight minutes.

There has now been confirmed sadly that seven people have died in addition as you know, three suspects are dead.
My current information is that 48 people have been injured, 48 people were indeed taken to hospital.

The Mayor of London has released a statement on the ‘deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners.’

Metropolitan Police earlier confirmed that the attacks at London Bridge and Borough Market are terrorist incidents.
