Your face is the window to your soul, and keeping up appearances on social media can be a total pane in the glass.
But, calling all movers and shakers and selfie-takers, there’s a new smartphone that can help you take incredible selfies and live your best, highly-curated life on Instagram…. Meet the OnePlus 5.
Turning the camera on yourself using this phone’s selfie feature is a little like seeing beauty from the eye of the beholder. Pics or it didn’t happen? Okay, then.
The dual-lens camera helps enhance what your mother gave you through a little clever tech, no filter needed.
All you need to do is turn the camera to shoot a selfie and switch on ‘Beauty Mode’.
The phone offers a slider so you can pick how much it eradicates blemishes and lightens dark circles under your eyes.
While other apps offer the option to change the entire landscape of your facial features, and in turn crush your self-esteem by offering ‘constructive’ criticism, this friendly little addition simply serves to smooth things out and give you a little virtual pick-me-up.
Basically, it comes in very handy if you’re sending a snap to your mum and don’t want a lecture about the benefits of drinking enough water.
Also, the OnePlus 5 and its dash power-charging mode is backed by a woman who knows her way around a selfie; Emily Ratajkowski. That’s what I call evidence.
So, now you have proof the new OnePlus 5 sports one of the best smartphone cameras around today, thanks to the tired and worn out selfies of UNILAD’s finest.
Narcissism aside, let’s take a look at what separates it from the pack of smartphones on the market.
One lens shoots wide, the other is a 2 x telephoto lens and it can shoot portrait too.
For those less vanity-inclined, UNILAD took to the streets of Amsterdam and Las Vegas to put the OnePlus to the test, use it in different light conditions and more.

Just in case you were wondering, the OnePlus 5’s rear wide-angle camera is a 16MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture and its telephoto lens is a whopping 20MP sensor with a f/2.6 aperture. So how well did it perform?
