Twice a year, comicbook, gaming and TV enthusiasts pull out all the stops for Comic Con.

We went to MCM Comic Con in October to see what all the fuss was about and it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed. People spend months designing and making their costumes, with many almost identical to their fantasy counterparts.

Cosplay is a popular hobby where people step out of their everyday character and take on the persona of a specific one from a game, comicbook, TV show, or any other part of pop culture for that matter.

Game of Thrones is a popular choice due to the iconic medieval and rustic robes coupled with the dragons.

UNILAD’s presenter, comedian, and Spider-Man balloon enthusiast, Joel, had the pleasure of meeting a woman dressed as Daenerys Targaryen, appropriately adorned with a huge, intricately designed dragon.

Of course Harry Potter’s Professor Snape made an appearance. I think he was smiling a little too much though. He needs to work harder on that melancholic look.

For the last 30 years, Cosplayers and Comic Con regulars have had the helping hand of EMPFrom humble beginning in Germany where a small team set out to start a mail order business that allowed alternative music fans the opportunity to discover all their favourite merchandise from one extensive catalogue, EMP has quickly become Europe’s leading provider of entertainment, music & video game merchandise with over 20,000 products available online.

EMP are ever present across various music festivals & events from the likes of Bloodstock to Comic Con meet ups all around the U.K. They are strong supporters of the rock music scene and are proud to be the destination of choice for that ideal cos-play outfit.

The attention to detail on this Ray costume from Star Wars is amazing.

It could be Ryan Reynolds himself and I wouldn’t know any better.

Stranger Things is another favourite among the Cosplayers, and this interpretation of Winona Ryder’s character Joyce is amazing.

One of the most classic costumes is Ash and Pikachu from Pokémon. Simple yet satistfying.

Going pretty old school and iconic with this one, they dressed as Finn and Jake the dog from Adventure Time.

Superheroes (and villains) are among the most popular characters to dress up, and this guy went as Loki from The Avengers

I think this guy came as The Flash, but I barely caught a glimpse of him…

Representing Batman Cosplayers, these two had the most incredible Steam Punk Riddler and Poison Ivy outfits.

As well as TV shows and Film, lots of Cosplayers come as characters from video games.

This girl, who was awarded an EMP t-shirt for her costume, came as Mercy from the first-person shooter game Overwatch.

This year’s MCM London Comic Con attracted a record-breaking 133,156 people over the three-day pop culture fest.

The next MCM Comic Con in the UK is in March and takes place in London, Manchester, Birmingham and many more cities.
