Pop superstar Britney Spears has had quite a few trademark looks in her life, from her fiery red PVC bodysuit to the classic schoolgirl outfit.
In a recent advertising campaign, the 36-year-old has once again dramatically overhauled her appearance, so much so fans can’t even recognise the pop princess.
The star has been announced as the face of French luxury fashion house Kenzo‘s latest clothing collection, posing for a series of photos:
Kenzo unveiled the advertising campaign, which stars the Queen of Pop, for their La Collection Memento N°2 line yesterday.
The collection is dedicated to the brand’s original creator, Kenzo Takada, which means it features plenty of denim as they throw it back to the 1970’s.
Wearing the likes of brightly coloured sweatshirts, caps and funky footwear, Spears looks a little different to usual, in both the photos and video.
Her fans are baffled by the shoot with many not even realising it’s Spears at first.
One Tweeter, by the name of Josie Ayre, wrote:
This does not look like Britney.

Another was also confused, tweeting:
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed that she doesn’t look like the same person.
Her and a handful of other celebrities have turned into other people out of nowhere.

Meanwhile, some said Britney resembled another celebrity, with one person stating:
Many of these photos look like Jessica Simpson. Certainly doesn’t look like Britney.
THANK YOU! I thought the same thing – many of these photos look like Jessica Simpson. Certainly doesn't look like Britany

One person even suggested the pictures show how Britney has ‘had plastic surgery’:
How much plastic surgery did this chick go through? Her face is completely different. More fake images for girls to ‘look up to’.

Announcing the collaboration on her Twitter, the singer has also received plenty of support from her fans as not everyone has been left in a state of confusion.
Posting a photo of herself wearing a backpack, cap and sweatshirt, Britney enthusiastically tweeted:
So excited to announce my new campaign for Kenzo’s La Collection Memento No2 shot by Peter Lindbergh!

Britney’s fans can often be quite hardcore – one guy spent a whopping $80,000 to look like his beloved pop princess.
31-year-old Bryan Ray from Los Angeles is so enamoured by the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer, he’s had over 90 procedures to date to emulate her.
As reported by the Daily Mail, aspiring model Bryan explained where his obsession started:
Ever since I was young there was something about Britney Spears and the qualities she had that I thought was the perfect package.
I was obsessed, I watched all her interviews, learned all her choreography and then paid to have the same perfect smile as, I felt that during that time we were very similar.
So many people refer to me as ‘Britney’ and for a very long time friends have greeted me with her infamous quote ‘It’s Britney, b*tch!’ from her song Gimme More which I absolutely love.
Britney will always be one of my biggest inspirations, I love that she was the biggest star in the world, went through an incredibly hard time and came out on top.
And I thought I had a bit of an obsession with my posters, costumes and CD collection!
