Every now and then bizarre online trends come and go, and now there’s another taking the social world by storm, but it’s a little bit harder than the Ice Bucket Challenge.
MMA fighter Max Holloway kick-started the bottle top challenge when he uploaded an impressive clip of himself removing a bottle cap with one carefully placed spin kick, displaying incredible levels of precision.
Sharing the video on Instagram, the UFC featherweight champion wrote:
Be curious my friends! #challengeaccepted #bottlecapchallenge Passing this on to our guy @johnmayer …. hey John if you can’t complete this challenge @erlsn.acr and I decided you have to come to Hawaii after your tour and kick it with us until you complete it!
Needless to say, other UFC fighters have joined in on the craze, showing off their supernatural expertise, and a familiar face has even decided to get himself in on the action.
Taking to Twitter, Fast and Furious star Jason Statham uploaded his own impressive bottle cap challenge, looking like something taken straight out of any of his Hollywood action films.
The actor wrote ‘#bottlecapchallenge #challengeaccepted This thing landed on my head from @johnmayer but will quickly go to a couple of fellas we’ve seen do push ups badly. All yours Guy Ritchie and @jmoontasri.’
Last night the notorious Conor McGregor joined in on the action (despite the fact he wasn’t actually nominated, but we’ll let that one slide), and needless to say, he removed the bottle top in a seemingly effortless spin kick, before taking a cheeky swig out of a second bottle.
Writing on Twitter, the Irish UFC star said:
Excellent job Jason Statham, I tip my cap to you. I’ll take it from here. I nominate Floyd Mayweather.
We’ll be keeping our eyes firmly peeled on Mayweather’s social channels for the next instalment in the bottle cap challenge.
