David Beckham’s birthday surprise left him in tears, the whole world can now confirm, after Golden Balls shared the heart-warming family moment online.
Becks dubbed his ‘big boy coming home’ the ‘best birthday surprise’ and tagged the rest of his family in the video post which captured the moment Brooklyn Beckham crashed the dinner party to surprise his dad.
Not forgetting Harper, David threw in a hashtag for good measure:
Hashtagging your own child’s name aside, this is some pretty cute fatherly content for the Beckham brand.
Brooklyn, who turned 19 in March, has been busy studying hard at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York, but decided to fly home – probably on the air miles – to celebrate his dad hitting 43-years-old in London on Wednesday, 2 May.
Apparently, their eldest had missed his parents:
The retired footballer was unable to contain his shock – and his emotion – when he saw the 19-year-old saunter up behind him at his celebratory meal.
David hugged his son as he exclaimed:
What are you doing here?
Victoria Beckham also shared the video, writing:
The biggest surprise of the day…. Welcome home @brooklynbeckham X happy birthday @davidbeckham I love u so much x kisses [sic]
A voice in the background, which sounded to be that of six-year-old Harper’s, proved the family festivities were a surprise, saying: ‘I didn’t know Brooklyn was coming!’
Brooklyn and David have a history of social media stand-offs, with the aspiring photographer’s dad regularly taking to Instagram to let it be known the patriarch reigns supreme in the family…
If Instagram followers are a good indicator of superiority, of course.
The former footballer isn’t afraid to point out his 44.2 million far outweighs Brooklyn’s meagre 11 million.
Back in 2017, Beckham Senior even commented on one of his son’s social media live streams, perfectly emulating embarrassing parents everywhere, saying, ‘U should be at school’.
Despite the light trolling, Brooklyn still loves his dad ‘to the moon and back’, if his onbligatory Instagram birthday post was anything to go by.
Here the pair are, celebrating over a bottle of wine:
The younger kids seem to still be smitten with dad though.
Earlier that day, Harper featured in a sweet video posted by Victoria, reading an eloquent birthday message to her dad.
You can hear what the little girl had to say about her daddy below:
She said:
Dear daddy, happy birthday. I hope you like your fabulous presents. Love Harper.
I love you so, so much daddy.
Romeo, 15, and Cruz, 13, were also there to share in the special day:
Meanwhile, David has been showing off his new head tattoo, the latest in a long list of ink which depicts the solar system on the side of his scalp.
He’s apparently inspired some of Brooklyn’s ink too, with the young Beckham getting a number seven on his finger – in honour of Becks’ football shirt number. It really does run in the family.
