Eminem keeps teasing the masses with more information regarding the release of his upcoming, ninth studio album, believed to be titled, Revival.

Slim Shady took to Instagram to post a cryptic picture which says:

”Walk On Water’ Take as needed’.

What could it all mean? It’s certainly got hip-hop heads, casual music fans and Em’ Stans on high alert, as they all try to decipher the image, as if there’s some sort of hidden message?

When Marshall Mathers posted the picture last night, the confounding text was written on a mock-prescription note with the slogan, ‘REVIVAL’.

While it may not mean much, it should be worth pointing out the ‘E’ in ‘REVIVAL’ is shown backwards – a signature trait in the Detroit MC’s logo.

So what could the phrase, ‘Walk On Water’ mean?

There’s a possibility it could be the title of his first single – if that’s the case then the, ‘Take as needed part’ of the post could be hinting to the opening bars/lyrics or verse.

Of course, this is just speculation , but it comes off the back of his manager, Paul Rosenberg – who was recently made CEO/President of iconic hip-hop label Def Jam Records – posting his own mysterious Instagram photo:

Rosenberg’s post was meant to be a promotion for Yelawolf’s – an Alabama rapper signed to Shady Records – third studio LP Trial By Fire.

However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a billboard in the distance, with the words ‘REVIVAL’ – again with the backwards ‘E’ – and immediately figured his post doubled as a promo for Eminem’s ninth studio album too.

While it’s easy to say ‘you’re looking way too much into this’, or ‘you’re clutching at straws’, there was also the phoney ad-slogan ‘Seize The Moment’ – a play on Em’s Sing For The Moment, from his third studio LP The Eminem Show:

Also, on the website, AskAboutRevival.com, it states:

One of the symptoms you should watch for AFTER starting REVIVAL is Brain damage

Brain damage is a song title from the Slim Shady LP.

As well as this, towards the bottom of the website, there’s a disclaimer which reads:

REVIVAL does not cause these side effects, but if you have them you should for sure seek medical attention, ‘I need a doctor.’

A reference to longtime collaborator, Dr. Dre, and the single title from the former-NWA founder’s now-defunct Detox album.

For the true Eminem Stans out there, if you call the number on the website – (1-833-2GET-REV) – you’ll receive a voice message saying:

Thank you for your interest in Revival, the No. 1 slightly invasive treatment for Atrox Rithimus. You only get one shot to beat AR.

I don’t think I need to point out the further references there!

In more Eminem news, this month sees the 15th anniversary of the classic hip-hop movie 8 Mile and to celebrate, he’s releasing a special capsule collaboration with Detroit streetwear brand, Carhartt.

Looks like Slim and co are going to continue to tease us with snippets until the album drops?

I know I could be wrong, but let’s look at the evidence –  it’s all pretty conclusive!

Guess who’s back…
