Floyd Mayweather once said: “My kids are the future of the Mayweather family and of the Mayweather brand.”
The supposedly retired championship boxer is nothing if not a family man. Sharing sentiments such as: “I feel our family is stronger if we stay together,” it’s no surprise he dotes on his eldest son, Zion.
The mini Mayweather just turned 16-years-old and true to form Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather threw him a lavish bash worthy of his nickname.
Staying true to middle-American elite tradition, Zion was gifted a car by his multi-millionaire featherweight father… but not your run-of-the-mill, ten-year-old Vauxhall Corsa – a Mercedes C-Class Coupe worth around £31,000, no less.
Mayweather Senior also gave his teenage son a shout-out on Instagram, saying: “Today is a holiday in our home. When it’s a Mayweather’s birthday, it’s a holiday!”
The 40-year-old, who recently rang in his own birthday, also gave his son the gift of going viral on Instagram – because that matters to teenagers now, apparently.
Most importantly, the young Mayweather got to ring in his sixteenth year with his dad.
The pair were snapped by their private photographer enjoying many an embrace.
Most of us, with simple pleasures and tastes, are just happy to be surrounded by friends and family on our birthday…
But than again, most of us weren’t born into the Mayweather clan.
The multitude of paparazzi snaps, that have today been posted to the boy’s newly-plugged Instagram, would suggest Zion was never short of pals to celebrate with.
The youngster was surrounded at all times by well-wishers, and if that wasn’t enough, he was also joined by a handful of superstar rappers who performed at his party…
…Complete with a ‘moshpit’ – which looks more like an accidental gap in the crowd.
Evidently enjoying the company of the wealthy elite, it seems Zion is already looking forward to living up to his dad’s monied name.
Mayweather claims to have raked in £640 million during a 19-year-career, and is renowned for splashing out on million dollar bets, private jets and tailor-made wardrobes.
His career to date – and his vast athletic talent – warrants his vast wealth, in the opinion of some fans.
Meanwhile, Mayweather plans to square up to MMA champ, Conor McGregor to prove his mettle in what is expected to be the most well-paid fight of all time.
That should help him save for Zion’s 21st birthday… But at this rate he’ll be fifty before the fighters settle on their terms.
