Kaley Cuoco is many things: One of the highest-paid TV actresses, an award-winner in her craft, a dedicated rider and animal rights activist.
But since Cuoco joined the cast of The Big Bang Theory as Penny, her body has been under constant scrutiny and plastic surgery is at the forefront of that discussion.
In a recent interview with Women’s Health Cuoco spoke candidly about her surgical enhancements; namely, a nose job and breast augmentation.
Kaley said:
As much as you want to love your inner self… I’m sorry, you also want to look good. I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing.
Kaley’s appearance is so talked about in the public domain that People magazine have even constructed a time-lapse of her style evolution, including both before and after surgery photos.
With this level of scrutiny, it’s no wonder many women in the spotlight have kept surgical enhancements under wraps and away from the prying – and often judgemental – eyes of the media.
But not 30-year-old Cuoco, whose unapologetic, matter-of-fact attitude to her surgery champions every woman’s right to do with her body what she pleases.
Her decision to embrace the changes surgery has afforded her body is brave – which says more about the society we live in that it does about Cuoco herself.
Sadly we live in a world where women are still criticised for their choice to enhance their bodies through so-called ‘unnatural’ means, with many feeling damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
So it’s refreshing to see a woman like Cuoco asserting her rights with confidence.
