Jaden Smith has been flexing his charitable spirit once more by introducing his I Love You restaurant designed to give ‘people what they deserve’ by feeding vegan meals to homeless people.
The musician took to Instagram to unveil his pop-up truck after setting up shop in Los Angeles’ Skid Row district which has the highest population of homeless residents.
He shared a photo of the vegan food truck, which was followed up with a video showing a long line of ‘customers’ waiting to be fed.
Jaden explained on Instagram:
The @ILoveYouRestaurant is a movement that is all about giving people what they deserve, healthy vegan food for free. Today we launched our first one day food truck pop up in downtown LA. Keep a look out because this is the first of many.
Skid Row is an area of downtown L.A., and according to the most recent census, has a population of around 18,000. However the district has one of the largest stable homeless populations in the US of between 5,000 and 8,000.
This isn’t the first time Jaden has been known for his philanthropy though – earlier this year the rapper revealed he would help Flint’s water crisis by using some of the profits generated by his JUST Water company to install filtration systems around the city in a bid to purify the contaminated water.
People were quick to praise Jaden in the comments section, including a host of celebrities from Kevin Hart, SZA and Nick Cannon to Jordin Sparks and Travis Barker.
Earlier this year, vegan activist Jaden became one of the many celeb investors helping fund a $300 million Series E round for Impossible Foods, which the plant based company plans to use to increase its production of the Impossible Burger.
And while the 21-year-old makes moves in changing the world one step at a time, he somehow also found time to drop his new album ERYS during the July 4 celebrations in the US, before he heads off on tour with Tyler, the Creator.
No matter what you think of his music, his acting, or even his views on veganism, you absolutely can’t knock him for using his wealth and stature to do some good in the world. There’s lots of celebs who could learn a trick or two from him.
