Katy Perry has come under fire for making an inappropriate joke about Britney Spears’ infamous 2007 breakdown.
While being interviewed on the red carpet at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards last night Perry made an off colour joke about the Princess of Pop shaving her head.
Speaking to E! News’ Ryan Seacrest about her newly dyed blonde hair she joked that it was the only colour she hadn’t tried before.

For some reason the pop star then took a direct shot at Britney, quipping that at least she ‘hadn’t shaved her head’ as a result of a meltdown before adding she’d taken a break to look after her mental health.
Unfortunately, if you thought this was just a silly thoughtless joke with no malice behind it Katy Perry did then repeat the same joke to another journalist slightly further down the red carpet.
Yikes…
Anyway, Britney’s fans weren’t pleased with the upstart Roar singer insulting their idol…

I like the old Katy Perry. The one who could actually write good pop music and who didn't insult Britney.

Although not everyone was against Katy:
All you hypocrites hating on Katy Perry about her head shave comments – you have all been using them Britney memes for years! #GrammyAwards

You can't even make jokes anymore these days. I don't think Katy Perry meant any harm. Mountain out of a molehill much?? #pc #KatyPerry

Regardless of whether you think Katy was deliberately throwing shade or just making an off colour joke I think we can all agree it was in bad taste.
Let’s hope that Katy can kiss and make up with Britney.
