Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington has reportedly been staying at a rehab facility for stress since before season 8’s finale earlier this month.
At first it was reported the actor had checked himself into rehab, however his rep later described the centre as a ‘wellness retreat.’
Now Game of Thrones has come to an end, Kit is said to be using the break in his busy work schedule to work on some ‘personal issues’, his reps told Cosmopolitan.
According to Page Six, the centre is a luxury mental health and rehabilitation centre in Connecticut, where he has been since before the final season came to an end. Harrington is reportedly suffering with stress, exhaustion, and alcohol related issues.
A friend of Kit told the publication:
The end of Game of Thrones really hit Kit hard.
He realised ‘this is it — this is the end’, it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, what next?
He’s in the clinic predominantly for stress and exhaustion and also alcohol.
His wife Rose is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.
A rep for the actor added:
Kit has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.
It’s reported the facility specialises in ‘psychological coaching, practicing mindful meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy to combat stress and deal with negative emotions at the facility.’
After eight seasons, Kit’s character Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen went their separate ways, but then the final episode saw Jon stab the love of his life to death in a bid to save the realm. The episode, which has divided opinion, broke TV records by racking up an impressive 19.3 million viewers worldwide.
A behind-the-scenes documentary, which showed the cast filming their final scenes, saw Kit break down in tears when he first learned his character would kill Dany. He was barely able to speak when during a table reading with the entire cast, as writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss took them through the script.
Our thoughts are with Kit has he attempts to return to full health.
