Margot Robbie Took Her Mum To The Oscars And They Look Incredibly Alike

In case you’ve been living under a rock and didn’t know, the 90th Academy Awards – aka the Oscars – took place last night, Sunday March 4, in Los Angeles.

Despite this year’s awards not throwing up any real surprises – we all knew Gary Oldman and Frances McDormand would win Best Actor and Best Actress – they didn’t fail to disappoint. Especially if you love celebrity gossip.

One little detail which seems to be doing the rounds on social media, is the plus-one I, Tonya actress Margot Robbie decided to bring along with her.

Margot, the blonde bombshell who’s taken Hollywood by storm, thanks to her incredible performances in films such as The Wolf Of Wall Street and, let’s face it, the saving grace of Suicide Squad – had the world of Twitter in a bit of a tizz because she brought along her mum.

It wasn’t so much the fact she decided to bring her mum as a plus-one, it was more the fact people couldn’t get over how much they looked alike.

Now, I know this might be a concept some of you may struggle with – but imagine this – a daughter who actually resembles the woman who gave birth to her!

Twitter went wild with the sight of said mum!

To be fair, despite the age difference, they do seem quite alike – Margot’s definitely not taken after her father then!

Despite her mum being in attendance, Margot missed out on the award for Best Actress – she was nominated for her performance in the hit, I, Tonya.

She lost out to none other than Frances McDormand, for her portrayal of a mother hell-bent on getting revenge for her daughters death in the moving, yet heart-warming, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

During her acceptance speech for Best Actress, Frances made Margot cry.

McDormand got her fellow nominees, as well as every other woman nominated for an Oscar, to stand up in the audience to emphasise the importance of women in film, leaving everyone in tears, including Margot.

She said:

Now, I want to get some perspective. If I may be so honoured to have all the female nominees in every category stand with me in this room tonight, the actors – Meryl, if you do it, everybody else will, c’mon – the filmmakers, the producers, the directors, the writers, the cinematographer, the composers, the songwriters, the designers.

Look around, everybody, look around, ladies and gentlemen, because we all have stories to tell, and we all have projects we need to finance.

Don’t talk to us about it at the parties tonight. Invite us into your office in a couple days, or you can come to ours, whatever suits you best and we’ll tell you all about them.

It’s the 60-year-old actress’ second Best Actress Oscar winning her first in 1997 for her lead role in the Coen brothers’ classic, black-comedy Fargo.

McDormand received critical acclaim for playing Mildred Hayes in Three Billboards, picking up the BAFTA, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for the same role earlier this year.
