As time has shown, history often repeats itself.

And, in a bid to stay relevant, talked about and ultimately incredibly disliked among the general public, Piers Morgan has decided to call out David Beckham once again for kissing his daughter on the lips.

Why? Because Morgan is a bitter little toad and David Beckham is a nice guy who loves his daughter, I guess.

The former England captain shared a few snaps and videos on social media from his recent family holiday in Florida. One snippet of the video showed the doting dad giving his seven-year-old daughter Harper a peck on the lips as they shared a boat trip across the Everglades.

Desperately keeping up his role as daytime television’s premier contrarian, Piers decided – again – to say Beckham’s display of affection for his daughter wasn’t appropriate.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the co-host said:

So he’s posted this picture, yeah it’s very sweet. [But] why would a father kiss his daughter on the lips? Don’t get it – creepy. Weird. No one does that. Who does that? Then you post that for the world – you posted that for the world, why?

I don’t know Piers, perhaps because being raised in a loving household is healthy and incredibly positive for a child, and will help them grow up to be compassionate, well-rounded individuals, rather than a negative and close-minded person who gets freaked out by other people’s decisions despite them having literally no bearing on their life whatsoever?

Piers’ co-host Susanna Reid responded, saying she too kisses her children on the lips every now and again, adding: ‘It’s what I do’.

She said:

Aww, they love each other. Well the interesting thing is he came in for a lot of criticism when he posted a video like that a couple of years ago and he’s obviously just doubled down and thought, ‘well that’s what I do’.

But Piers couldn’t stop, adding: ‘Weird, weird, weird, it’s just weird,’ and suggesting the best way to show affection to your kids is a ‘firm handshake’. Pip pip, old chap!

Becks has addressed the issue before, the Mirror reports, as he said in a Facebook Live video:

I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange.

I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.

We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and you know, we’re very affectionate with them.

Seems like you’re doing a decent job so far, Dave.
