Stephen Fry took to the stage at the BAFTA Awards last night and took aim at Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.
As the royal couple took their seats, Fry began his opening monologue, joking that Kate’s presence was fortunate as her husband would likely need comforting after finding out that he is related to Danny Dyer.
Fry said:
He is still recovering from devastating news he is related to Danny Dyer.
On the BBC show Who Do You Think You Are? It was recently revealed that Danny Dyer, the Eastenders lad, was in fact related to the royals.
Will and Kate chuckled at the quip and Fry went on to sprinkle his speech with subtle digs at President Trump, calling the crowd ‘row after row of the most overrated people on the planet’.
When Trump blasted Meryl Streep as overrated on Twitter, Fry was quick to jump to her defence, saying on stage:
One of the greatest actresses of all time. Only a blithering idiot would think otherwise.
I would say underrated to be honest.
Most people would probably agree…
