Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have reportedly split up after publicly dating for a few months.

According to People, Selena and The Weeknd – AKA Abel Tesfaye – have recently split from each other.

They had previously been very open about their relationship, with plenty of PDAs to keep the paparazzi going, but it seems this is no more.

This comes not long after Selena had a kidney transplant from one of her best friends this summer, which The Weeknd was around to support her through.

At the time Selena posted this statement to Instagram:

So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.

I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you.

Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery.

She continued:

And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.

I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.

But it seems Selena Gomez has turned to her long-time ex Justin Bieber, who split up more than three years ago, though sources apparently told US Weekly they began talking not long after the surgery.

The pair have been seen knocking around in LA over the weekend, and were spotted having brunch before heading to church afterwards.

They were seen sharing smoothies and iced coffees in the cosy captures.

An unnamed source told US Weekly:

They grabbed breakfast, blueberry smoothies and whipped cream, and were just talking – none of the staff really recognised them.

Justin paid for both of them, they looked to be in a good mood, they just sat at a table and chatted for a while, no hand holding or anything, the conversation seemed lighthearted.

They sat at a table inside where they had a little more privacy. They stayed for about 25 minutes before leaving together.

Another source said:

Selena is simply trying to make peace with Justin after her illness. He has been great to her since her surgery and they are on good terms right now.

They got back in touch recently through their friends and have seen each other at church.

Just last month, sources were saying the couple were ‘rock solid and very happy together’.

Selena said to Miami Power 96.5FM in May:

I’m the kind of girl that loves tremendously big. I just have always been that girl.

I will give my heart and soul to the person that I love. It’s just how I operate.

The Weeknd had previously dated model Bella Hadid before he struck up the relationship with Selena.
