Bride Invites Guests To Wear Their Old Wedding Dresses To Her Wedding

Wedding days are often described as the best days of peoples lives, hence why there’s so much build up and anticipation in the months leading up to it.

I can also imagine they’re one of the most stressful things ever – not just for the bride and groom but for the guests too. I mean, what on earth are you supposed to wear?!

Obviously if you’re a woman you can’t wear white, it’s the written rule. Or is it? Not for one bride who invited all of her female guests to wear their own wedding dress on her big day recently.

Audrey Moore, an American actor who’s appeared on Godless and Better Call Saul, knew she didn’t want a traditional wedding when she got engaged to her now husband, Jesse Lumen.

As reported by Buzzfeed News, Audrey and Jesse – a writer – got married on December 30 and stayed true to their word, hosting an amazingly unconventional wedding.

Just one of the distinctive parts of the couple’s big day was the guests’ attire; all of the women were invited to re-wear their wedding dresses, a feat which was captured on camera in the most lovely way.

Jesse posted the photo to Reddit earlier this week:

The photo (and dresses) were a huge hit and had received 90K upvotes at the time of writing, with many praising the couple for their originality.

Jesse wrote, alongside the picture:

We thought it was sad that most women only get to wear their wedding dress once, so we invited all the women coming to our non-traditional wedding to wear their old wedding dresses again!

Which, let’s be honest, is a 10/10 idea. I’ve always thought it a bit pointless that your wedding dress is never used again after your wedding – what are you even supposed to do with it? Hang it in your wardrobe forever?

Audrey told Buzzfeed News:

We really wanted our wedding to really represent ourselves, our sense of humour, our creativity, and also not just celebrate ourselves but marriage in general as a choice.

Once the actor had made the decision that she didn’t want a traditional wedding, she realised she wanted to give her guests the same opportunity she was having to wear a beautiful dress.

She explained:

I’ve been to all of their weddings and I saw them all in their beautiful dresses. I wanted them to have the opportunity to wear their really magical, beautiful dress a second time.

It was like watching a group of princesses come to life.

Everyone looked so amazing and the pictures are on another level – who wouldn’t want everyone to look like princesses on their wedding day?!

Congrats to the happy couple and keep doing you. It’s obviously working!
