thylaneblondeau/InstagramBeauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder, but this hasn’t stopped human beings from measuring this apparently subjective quality through beauty competitions and often meaningless lists.
At least when you are six years old, you should ideally be free from such probing scrutiny; allowed to run around with scabby knees and ice cream all over your clothes.
And so, when Thylane Blondeau was given the dubious honour of ‘most beautiful girl in the world’ at the tender age of six, many were skeptical in regards to how adults could ethically judge and quantify the physical appearance of such a young child.
Now 17 years old, Thylane has once again topped TC Candler’s ‘100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year’ list; ruled to have the most beautiful face of 2018.
Thylane, the daughter of former premier league footballer Patrick Blondeau, excitedly took to Instagram after receiving the accolade; sharing the news with her 2.6 million followers.
The French model wrote:

TC Candler’s ‘100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year’ list originated in 1990, with previous recipients including the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman.
According to TC Candler’s popular YouTube channel, the list is ‘widely considered to be the most internationally recognised and prestigious list of its kind’:
Unlike most other annual beauty rankings, the 100 Most Beautiful Faces List is not a popularity contest and it is definitely not country specific. It is not about the hottest or the most famous celebrity. Rather, the list attempts to inform & broaden public opinion, instead of reflecting it.
The list introduces new faces to countries they ordinarily would not reach. The Independent Critics search far and wide, listening to the many millions of suggestions submitted by the public over the past couple of decades, and they then put together a list representative of the modern ideal of worldwide beauty.
Aesthetic perfection is only one of the criteria. Grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise, hope… they are all embodied in a beautiful face.
TC Chandler pride themselves on the diversity of the list, with nearly 40 countries represented. This is expected to expand as public interest reportedly continues to increase.
At 17, my own accomplishments amounted to having read the entire Twilight series twice over and having reasonable skills on Guitar Hero.
However, Thylane has already had a long, and sometimes controversial career, as a model. She appeared on the catwalk wearing Jean Paul Gaultier when she was four, and two years later appeared on the cover of Vogue Enfants.
At ten, she was the youngest ever model to pose for Vogue Paris, and has even recently launched her own clothing range, Heaven May.
