Meghan Markle is indisputably a beautiful princess straight from a particularly stylish Disney VHS.
And much like another certain ‘ordinary girl’ turned princess before her, the Duchess of Sussex has some rather unusual habits when it comes to her footwear.
Of course, Meghan isn’t dancing around in glass slippers which she will later leave lying around precariously at Buckingham Palace for the corgis to gnaw.
Indeed, in a very un-Cinderella like move, the 36-year-old former Suits actress doesn’t opt for dainty shoes which fit her oh-so-perfectly.
In fact, she goes for shoes which are way too big for her; spacious enough to accommodate even the most heavy-footed of ugly stepsisters.
Fans noticed the unusual footwear after she stepped out in a pair of Balenciaga Leather Knife Pumps while attending Ascot with her husband Prince Harry for the very first time.
Check out these gorgeous yet gargantuan hoofs for size:
Now, Meghan of course looked as seamless as ever, in a chic white Givenchy dress and eye-catching monochrome hat. But duchess devotees just couldn’t look away from those huge heels, worth a reported £695.
After all, it isn’t likely the new royal is just grabbing risky, last minute ASOS buys as she prepares for her various balls and charity luncheons. So what the heck is going on?
Fashion expert Harriet Davey explained to Fabulous:
Celebs often go a size up, or even two, in the shoe department when they’re at an event or on the red carpet and it’s for one reason we can all relate to – to avoid blisters.
There’s nothing worse than uncomfortable shoes (we’ve all been there on a night out) and when celebs like Meghan are wearing heels for a long period of time their feet can often swell up.
Davey continued:
The swelling can cause blisters and in the long run bunions – like long-time heel fan Victoria Beckham has been rumoured to suffer with.

Davey also offered some all-important tips on how to actually walk in the damn things:
A trick of the trade is to stuff the toe with padding like tissue or cotton wool, and this can be taken out once they feel like they need a bit more room in their shoes.
So now you have it ladies (and gents). I mean, how annoying is it when you are out hobnobbing with the British aristocracy and all you can think of is putting your feet up on the carriage ride home?
Next time you are out cutting some ribbons and cheering on some horses, you know exactly what to do to keep your feet blister-free.
Will the women of the land be following Meghan’s example? Will we soon be seeing Bigfoot sized heel-prints in every fashionable club or bar?
Now, if only I didn’t already have feet the size of boats I would be all over this royal fashion tip…
