When done correctly, a whizz around TK Maxx can be one of the most exhilarating shopping experiences on the high street.

I once bagged a bum-flattering pair of Diesel jeans for just thirty quid, and another time I grabbed a gorgeous caftan which made me feel like a beach hopping celebrity for less than a tenner.

Only die hard TK Maxx shoppers know the pride in snuffling out the very best and unique treasures from this Aladdin’s Cave of fashion. A cheap-as-chips designer candle. A purse friendly Michael Kors bag.

Those of us practised in the art of patiently sifting through those chaotically organised racks understand the thrill of telling friends, ‘Isn’t is nice though? TK Maxx, a fiver!’

However, such finds are nestled between the weird and the wonderful, the luminous fluff and diamante atrocities. And, of course, the startlingly quirky pieces meant for a similarly offbeat owner.

One hardened TK Maxx shopper uncovered such a beast lurking in the messy aisles of the high street favourite, a dress which she has amusingly likened to wearing a ‘car wash’.

Margaret McEwan came across the unusual dress at a TK Maxx in Reading, Berkshire, and thought it looked alright on the hanger. However, once she had slipped it on in the changing rooms, Margaret couldn’t hold back her giggles.

Taking to Facebook, Margaret shared pictures of herself wearing the sparkly, slime-green dress with so many tassels that she resembled a weeping willow tree gone rogue. She captioned the post, ‘BP called, they want their carwash back’.

Margaret’s Facebook friends were thoroughly tickled by the sight of the shopper engulfed by the wacky, and slightly terrifying looking, ‘green spaghetti dress’.

One person snickered:

OMG. I’m picturing you flinging yourself on the hood of my car. hahahahaha.

Another guffawed:

You look like a giant budgie.

Unsurprisingly, Margaret did not take this dress home with her. But no doubt there is someone out there who would fall head over heels for this swamp goddess gown.
