As if you weren’t already concerned enough that the man bun is taking over the world, now hipster wannabes everywhere don’t even have to go to the trouble of growing their hair, because they can just buy a clip-on version instead.
It sounds like a joke but apparently this is real life – for the low, low price of $9.99, discerning douchebags can get one of these clip-on man buns for themselves, which basically appears to be a biscuit made of fake hair, for the gentleman whose locks just aren’t quite long enough.
Groupon are responsible for this monstrosity, advising lads to comb back their hair before they attach the blob of real hair to the back of their head.
The clip-on man bun comes in three colours: black, brown and blond. So we guess they didn’t consider the possibility that redheads might want the new Hollywood heartthrob look too.
Earlier this year, online retailer ASOS played an April Fools Prank on us all when they claimed they’d be stocking clip-on man buns. But now that nightmare has become a reality. A horrible, horrible reality.
To be fair, Groupon do seem to realise how ridiculous their latest fashion accessory is, judging by the description on their website:
This attachable – and, equally important, detachable – man bun lets you blend in with your surroundings, putting it on when you smell fair-trade coffee or hear a banjo, and taking it off when someone utters the word bro.
And since companies have been marketing clip-on hair to women for years, so it was probably only a matter of time until the male version came out.
Still, if you’re using this as a way to see if the man bun would suit you before you commit to growing your hair out, just don’t do it, okay? Stop it.
