Here we go, just in time for the summer, the next fashion must-have is finally among us and we are excited.

You’ve got to hand it to them – Crocs have stuck around for far longer than we all expected for a shoe made from rubber with holes in.

In fact, they’ve stuck around so long they’re starting to become a bit of a fashion statement, at least that’s what the people at Barney’s New York think, who have teamed up with the love to hate/hate to love footwear brand for a range of ‘goth’ and ‘punk’ Crocs.

Crocs

The new Crocs are a special edition collaboration called the Barneys New York XO Crocs series, and will be sold exclusively at the Barneys New York flagship store. But fear not! They will also be available online.

Prices range from $70 to $90. For the extra money comes the extra sense of danger while wearing the Crocs, as those spikes are surely some kind of health and safety risk, no?

There are five styles to choose from, all in the classic Crocs clog range, decorated with fancy materials and extra, goth-y bling.

Michelle Poole, Crocs’ SVP and chief product and merchandising officer, told Footwear News:

Barneys and Crocs are both icons, but in very different ways, and that’s what makes this collaboration so exciting and unexpected.

It’s the perfect combination of style and comfort that offers consumers a truly unique form of self-expression.

It’s not the first time ‘goth Crocs’ have been available, but while those versions were made by creative folk bedazzling and modifying their own footwear, this new range of clog is official Crocs. And you know it’s all about that authentic label…

The new shoes are all produced in Crocs’ signature, lightweight Croslite foam, and feature the iconic ‘ventilation ports’ so air can circulate around your toes. Perfect for the beach!

Brand ambassadors Zooey Deschanel and Drew Barrymore were both reportedly on board with the fetching new design, with Zooey saying she’s ‘all about comfort’ these days.

It’s also rumoured that Crocs will be teaming up with an as-yet-unnamed collaborator for another secret project later this summer, so keep your eyes and feet peeled for that.
